Sat 21st and Sun 22nd March 2026 - Two Day Ropeweave Round Basket Making Course

Stake and strand baskets are fluid and allow for plenty of creativity during the building process. On this course you will learn how to weave a round paired base, how to stake it up and then weave the sides using rope weave.

We'll be using a variety of basketry willows grown in Somerset, and you'll be able
to complete your basket with a rod or trac border. Depending on the size and shape of your work, you may like to add plaited cordage or willow handles or a strap to your basket.

The course is held at my workshop at GRIT Studios in Stockport, a collective of makers and artists.

Fee includes all materials and tools are provided. It's suitable for beginners and those with previous experience.

The course is 9.30 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day. Hot drinks are provided, please bring lunch.
